ATaC and NORAC to present Asbestos Data Report to Parliament
ATaC and NORAC will present their first annual report on the condition of asbestos in UK buildings in Parliament on Monday 21st November 2022.
The Asbestos Testing and Consultancy Association (ATaC) and the National Organisation of Asbestos Consultants (NORAC) will present their first annual report on the condition of asbestos in UK buildings, in Parliament on Monday 21st November 2022.
This is the first time that any organisation has attempted to collate and analyse a large body of data regarding asbestos in UK buildings. That is, over 1 million lines of data, derived from over 120,000 asbestos surveys undertaken between 1st October 2021 to 31st March 2022.
The report is a response to the recent Parliamentary Work and Pensions Committee inquiry into HSE’s approach to asbestos management, which highlighted that little evidence exists about the current extent and condition of asbestos in UK buildings.
This is the first collaborative effort between these two trade bodies and represents a significant step forward in industry co-operation. ATaC and NORAC will present their findings and Rt Hon Sir Stephen Timms MP (Chair of the Work and Pensions Committee) will respond with his comments, followed by other panel members to be confirmed.
