ARCA and ATaC Members support asbestos cancer patients
The Association donates £9,000 to Mesothelioma UK after members completed different activities during Charity Week 2017.
£9,000 raised for Mesothelioma UK
In September last year, the Association held another successful Charity Week with ARCA / ATaC staff and many members taking part in different activities to raise funds for charity.
Mesothelioma UK is one of the charities that ATaC supports, raising funds to help people suffering from Mesothelioma, a cancer caused by exposure to asbestos.
The UK has the highest incidence of Mesothelioma in the World, and it continues to rise. Currently over 2,600 people are diagnosed each year, and whilst the treatment options are increasing, the disease remains incurable.
“Mesothelioma UK achieved some significant milestones last year, including funding for 18 clinical nurse specialists posted at NHS hospitals across the UK. It was great to be able to show our support again for this worthwhile charity,” commented Steve Sadley, Chief Executive of ARCA / ATaC.
“ATaC staff and members completed various activities during the Charity Week, and I was delighted to present the charity with a donation of £9,000.”
Liz Darlison, Consultant Nurse for Mesothelioma UK, commented, “Thank you to everyone that took part and raised funds for our charity again this year. Fundraisers are the largest financial contributors and we are extremely grateful for all their support. The funds raised will help us support Mesothelioma patients and their families.”
Many members got involved in the Charity Week 2017 by taking part in and holding various events, including biking, abseiling, skydiving, walking and cake baking.
